Covid-19 may have many currently in self-isolation and feeling the hit of the global pandemic, but not Vancouver glam rock band, Clone

Last night at the Railway Club, all members adorned in shimmery silver apparel and heavy black eye make-up, the band took to the stage amidst screaming fans, opening with their song well suited to the times, “End of the World”. In unison, the band sang the chorus, “The end of the world is coming soon so hold tight!” After the opener, Clone’s frontwoman, Juniper Watters AKA Rocket Science, made sure to thank the audience for making the brave trek out into pubic for the show despite current circumstances.

In pure rock and roll form, the band continued with their set, delivering hit after hit with nothing but punk meets glam esthetics. Energetically roving and dancing around each other on stage, the members interacted as much with each other as with their audience. Lead guitarist, Lee Forrester AKA Wayne Guess, came to the front of the stage periodically to show off his skills like a true glam rock showman while fans let out shrieks and cheers of delight. Bass player, Gill Forrester AKA Gil the Thrill and another guitarist, Kelly Zombor AKA Duke Swallswell also feeding off each other’s energy and punk rock prowess.

Self-defined in their bio as “reminiscent of the New York Dolls meets T. Rex with gender-bending explosions of sound and vision”, Clone certainly hits the nail on the head in terms of look, sound, and performance. For those of us who came after the glory days of 70s glam rock, or those of us who need desperately to relive it, it is for certain that this band has the ability to transport us all back to that glorious time when glitter and obscenely big hair defined.
