TSHA-Moonlight EP
Words by Hollie McGowan
TSHA is a newcomer to the world of electronic music production. Yet, if you were to hear this London-based artist’s music without that piece of information, you would never know. Her sound is sophisticated and beautiful, complex and refined, yet also with a feeling of effortlessness which pulls you in to dance. A high caliber sound likened to that of electronic music legends such as Four Tet, John Hopkins, Floating Points, and Bonobo, TSHA is definitely worth the attention.
Her latest EP, Moonlight, released by Counter Records, is simply more proof that this London based producer has what it takes. Beginning with the track, “Moon”, the EP opens with a bang. A fast build, the track moves along at a quick and steady pace layered by an exhilarating musical refrain. Next, “Me You” leads listeners on more of an inward direction, yet with just as much tranquility and beautiful mastery of sound. Followed by that is “Back To You” which features the delicate and luscious vocals from singer, Reader. Lastly, “Vibe” is truly a vibe with a funky, hip hop quality to it, perfect for self-reflective walks and chill sessions in the park. With the use of steel drum, mbira, and Persian lute over top infectious rhythms, it’s difficult not to allow your body to begin bopping and swaying to this EP’s solid beats and ethereal melodies.
Only just beginning, the future looks bright for TSHA. We will certainly be keeping an eye out for her future plans and endeavors.
